What is Mission Force?

GUIDING SCRIPTURE: 1 Timothy 4:12: "Don't let anyone despise your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity."

MISSION STATEMENT: "Transforming the mission fields of the world into a mission force by empowering and equipping young adult ministry leaders to be fully used by God"

Why Mission Force?

THE NEED: A couple of years ago, we had a round table discussion with various young adult ministry leaders from all different types of Baptist churches from around New England. Many felt they could use more training, mentoring, discipleship, and encouragement as they led in their ministries. With proper training and guidance, they felt that they would be able to be more available to be used by God in their ministries and for the Church as a whole.

THE RESPONSE: Our team of leaders (Joshua Rowley, Jackie Souza, Julie Souza, and Charlotte Mullane) under the guidance of Pastor Joe Souza and Brazilian missionaries Edson & Marcilene Messor, began to develop a program that could meet these needs that were presented to us. The goal was and still is to equip and empower young adult ministry leaders across New England to transform mission fields of the world into a mission force by equipping those who are called and sending those who God has called to be sent.

THE PROCESS: The program incorporates monthly meetings where we can be in fellowship and have conversations about ministry. It also includes studying "Charting a Bold Course", which focuses on navigating how to lead ministries in the 21st century. The program concludes with an overseas trip to London to learn from our partners there who find themselves in a similar spiritual climate and to also bring home new methods and approaches to ministry.

How do I join Mission Force?

  • Mission Force is for young adults (18-30) who are currently leading in ministry and are seeking ways to be equipped and empowered. Participants are 18+ and are at least one year removed from High School.

  • Participants need to meet the following expectations: maintain a close walk with the Lord, currently involved in leading or being involved in helping lead a ministry, seeking to go deeper in their faith and calling, able and willing to commit to the entire program, and they need to be referred by a Pastor, a Mission Force leader, or a former participant of Mission Force.

  • Participants need to be at every monthly meeting, maintain their close walk with the Lord, continue to engage in their local church/ministry, complete the entirety of the study resources given, and we expect them to travel as well (not required, but highly recommended to gain the full experience).

  • Participants meeting all these requirements and who submit an application will be contacted by one of the Mission Force leaders for an in-person or FaceTime/Zoom interview.
